If you’ve been following Rhodes Ave. Press, you know the story already and soon, you’ll meet even more memorable characters in The Room Where it Happens, Hawk, and Rogue.
But what I haven’t done yet—what I realize I’ve never actually done—is introduce myself. Hi, I’m Dan Ortiz. I’m the writer behind Rhodes Ave. Press.
When I first launched Rhodes Ave. Press, I was focused on the stories—on bringing serialized fiction into the modern era, on sharing the characters and worlds I’d been building for years. But I never really stepped out from behind the curtain to say, “Hey, this is who I am, and this is why I’m doing this.”
So, here’s a bit about me:
📖 I’ve always been obsessed with storytelling.
I spent my early years working in Hollywood as a junior development exec, where I got to play with ideas and build worlds. But when the pandemic hit, I realized I didn’t just want to shape stories—I wanted to write them. That’s when I made the leap from “someday” to “today.” At the time, finishing one novel seemed insurmountable, but I did, and then a second and now, I’ve just completed novel #12.
Four years later, I’ve written more novels than I ever thought possible, and Rhodes Ave. Press is the product of that journey.
💡 Why serialized fiction?
Because there’s something electric about a story that unfolds week by week, pulling you back in with every chapter. It’s how I grew up experiencing stories—whether through TV cliffhangers, comic book issues, or albums that told a complete story from track one to the final note. That anticipation, that shared experience, is what I want to create here.
🏠 Why Rhodes Ave.?
Because while I love writing big, cinematic stories, I also believe in grounding them in something personal. Rhodes Ave. is the street where I live. It represents where I’ve been, where I create, and the journey I’m on with every book I write.
So, if you’ve been following my work, thank you. If you’re new here, welcome. I’m Dan, and I’m here to tell stories that pull you in and don’t let go.
Now, let’s get back to the good stuff—because The Sins of the Seven is out now, The Room Where it Happens is coming this summer, and you won’t want to miss what’s in store.
